Jordan Spieth is set to play
in the AT&T Pebble Beach Pro-Am after undergoing surgery on his left wrist
in August, according to the Associated Press.
Spieth injured his wrist in
May 2023 and opted for surgery last August after playing in 22 tournaments and
achieving three top-10 finishes (all before the Masters) in the 2024 season.
As he revealed in an interview
with SiriusXM last month, he's no longer in pain and believes the time off
helped him recover after dropping to 70th in the world rankings (43rd at the
time of the surgery).
He plans to play three
consecutive weeks starting at Pebble Beach, where he won in 2017, and then
reevaluate his schedule.
And he doesn't necessarily
want to get back to his old self right away.
"I'm trying to look at
the big picture," Spieth said. "I don't want to put too much pressure
on myself to get off to a good start. I'm just trying to get my rhythm back.
This has been the longest gap between tournaments for me ever."
But now that he's healthy, he
hopes to finally become a household name again and get his first win since the
2022 RBC Heritage.
"I think my biggest goal
is that when I step on the tee, I want to know that I'm one of the best golfers
in the world - when I step on the tee, I have no doubt about it," the
13-year-old golfer said on the tour. "I want everything to go well so that
I can believe that consistently day in and day out. The focus is on getting in
the top 10 or top 15 every week.
"I know that
feeling," he said. "That's the feeling I want to have again. "
