Real Madrid 2-5 Barcelona: Player Ratings as the Catalans win their first trophy under Hansi Flick

Barcelona beat Real Madrid for the second time this season with a dominant performance.

Barcelona won their first trophy under Hansi Flick by defeating Real Madrid in the Spanish Super Cup final.

In the second clásico of the season, both teams played a close game, but Kylian Mbappe scored the first goal of the game within five minutes. The Frenchman teamed up with Vinicius to counterattack and Real Madrid led 1-0.

However, Barca responded ruthlessly, scoring four goals in 33 minutes to go into the locker room with a 4-1 lead. Lamine Yamal started the counterattack with a calm shot that went past three Real Madrid defenders and Thibaut Courtois. Robert Lewandowski then gave the Catalans the lead from the penalty spot, and then Rafinha headed in the goal to completely control the game. Even Alejandro Balde was involved in the goal.

Hansi Flick's side held on in the second half, with Rafinha scoring Barcelona's fifth goal in the 48th minute. Things changed for the Catalans when Wojciech Szczesny was sent off for a poor tackle on Kylian Mbappé as he charged towards goal. Rodrigo reduced Real Madrid's lead with a beautiful free kick, but even Madrid could not pull off such a dramatic comeback.

Barça survived with 10 men and eventually won the Spanish Super Cup at King Abdullah Sports City.

The Catalans had won their first title under Flick, but Real Madrid lost their first final of the season.
